Rory Skinner is feeling confident as the ZYN British Superbike Championship reaches the TT Circuit Assen next weekend (September 18/19/20) for the opening round of the BSB Showdown following his race win last time out at Cadwell Park.
Skinner claimed victory for Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha in the first race in Lincolnshire before two crashes curtailed his charge, but the Scottish contender is ready to build on their race win as the championship battle hits the final three rounds.
Skinner said: “Cadwell Park for me was a really good weekend, as I said going into it, I was hoping to keep on the form that we had at Thruxton and I think it is fair to say that we did that! So it was nice to get my first dry race win under my belt and to also win at another circuit; even though I love winning at home at Knockhill! It was nice to get that monkey off my back.
“First race was brilliant obviously and then the Monday at Cadwell was a little more difficult; two crashes were less than ideal, but for me there were a lot of positives to take out of the weekend. It’s really nice to be running consistently at the front all weekend and it certainly hasn’t come easy this year, but at Cadwell something clicked and it really just worked.
“We have Assen coming up next and I am always excited to go there as I have ridden there quite a bit over the years, especially in my junior career in the Red Bull Rookies, British Talent Cup and in the Moriwaki Cup, so going back to Assen is something I am excited about. I think it is another track that suits the Yamaha so it should hopefully be good for us. We will go there and try to get stuck in and do the best job we can and I am looking forward to seeing what me and the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha boys can do.”
